  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee granules
  • For the frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter, 3 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons caramel sauce, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1-2 tablespoons milk


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve instant coffee granules in milk.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the coffee mixture.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, caramel sauce, and vanilla extract. Add milk as needed for desired consistency.
  7. Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and drizzle with caramel sauce.
